Elliot and Whitmee Genealogists

Elliot & Whitmee are an experienced international firm of probate genealogists who specialise in tracing beneficiaries in deceased estates. Most of our estates come from instructions received from solicitors, banks and Public Trustees both in the U.K. and overseas, and the majority of our files involve a situation where no relatives are known, and we are required to trace the nearest kin using the appropriate intestacy law. Alternately we are engaged to trace perhaps just a few relatives of a deceased in a partial intestacy or our help is needed to just find one missing beneficiary who cannot be located because the beneficiary has changed address, or died since the will was drafted.

Our firm was founded by Charles Kerr (the Lord Teviot), and Christopher Martin who have over 60 years experience in this legal field.

Charles Kerr has since 1969 been a genealogist, and is a fellow of the Society of Genealogists (1975). He is also President of AGRA, the Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives.

Elliot & Whitmee have also featured extensively in the second series of Heir Hunters, shown on BBC1 in July 2008. The documentary series follows us on a number of difficult intestacy cases that we have investigated and shows the challenges we face in tracing and contacting heirs in an estate.
